Estonian ICT Cluster and Smart Africa sideevent at Global Business Forum Africa

Smart Africa and the Estonian ICT Cluster hosted a session on Delivering Digital Dividends in Africa on the sidelines of the Global Business Forum Africa (GBF) at Dubai EXPO 2020.

The session was opened in the Dubai EXPO Estonian pavilion by Doris Põld, the CEO of ITL and Estonian ICT Cluster, a key note address by Gerald Chirinda, Founder and CEO of Future Africa Forum. Mrs Doris Põld emphasized the importance of being present in the world largest meeting place and to refresh contacts with partners from African countries. The seminar focused on the digital dividends of digitalization. Estonian IT companies presented their practical digital solutions that could really help to overcome the digital transformation in African countries. To overcome the pandemic we need digital minded leaders both in private and public sector.

The panel included Smart Africa’s Director-General and CEO Lacina Kone, Maximilien Kpodjedo, Digital Advisor to the President of Benin and Jana Krimpe from the Estonian ICT Cluster. The session discussed the transformative power of technology as a catalyst to close the digital divide and empower future generations. Mr Lacina Kone addressed the need to garantee in the rapidly changed world necessary political environment to revive economy and to support through innovation the sustainable business models that are suitable for the new era.

Estonian ICT Cluster partners continued with inspiration tour through digital dividends and future innovative technologies on different fields like digital identity, cybersecurity, data management, e-justice, data interoperability and digital governance, e-health etc.

GBF Africa 2021 was hosted at Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo 2020 Dubai under the theme Transformation Through Trade and it was organized together with Dubai Chamber in collaboration with Expo2020 Dubai.
