Estonia is starting prototype testing for eCMR

Fitek EDI was selected through an international public procurement process which was carried out within the framework of the DIGINNO-Proto project. During the next months, a prototype for e-CMR cross-border data exchange will be created and tested between Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Polish public authorities and e-CMR service providers. Fitek EDI was selected through an international public procurement process which was carried out within the framework of the DIGINNO-Proto project.

During the next months, a prototype for e-CMR cross-border data exchange will be created and tested between Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Polish public authorities and e-CMR service providers. There are also plans to involve partners from Ukraine. The prototype will be developed in cooperation with partner countries’ public sector organizations, the road carries´ associations and experts in the field of freight transport digitization. The prototype will be completed by the end of summer 2020. The solution is created by eFTI (Electronic Freight Transport Information) regulation principles being developed by the European Commission, so it may be also adopted by other European Union countries.

“In the pandemic situation, the smooth movement of goods by international road transport, also, the performance of control operations in an efficient and contactless way have become especially important,” said Inna Nosach, project manager of DIGINNO-Proto project. “We believe that the completed prototype will contribute to the digitization of road transport in the region of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland.”

The project is led by the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
