Estonia Leads the Way in AI Security: ITL’s Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign Supports SMEs
March 13, 2025ITL members organized a cybersecurity awareness campaign for the second time, this time with a focus on artificial intelligence.
The Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITL) has successfully concluded its second consecutive cybersecurity awareness campaign, this time focusing on the secure use of artificial intelligence (AI) among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Building upon the success of last year’s initiative, which earned the “Collaboration of the Year” award, ITL continues to demonstrate Estonia’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity practices.
In this year’s campaign, ITL sought SMEs that have integrated AI solutions into their business processes and were willing to have their AI-based systems and products assessed for potential risks by ITL’s security experts. Participating companies included Moticheck, a management software firm, and Flowit Estonia, a provider of data-driven solutions. These assessments aimed to identify vulnerabilities and provide recommendations to ensure the secure implementation of AI technologies.
The campaign culminated in the development of the “Good Practice for Creating AI Systems,” a set of guidelines intended for IT companies offering AI solutions. These best practices are also recommended for adoption by organizations across various sectors to ensure the secure and responsible use of AI. The guidelines are available on ITL’s website here.
This initiative underscores Estonia’s proactive approach to cybersecurity and highlights the expertise within the country’s IT sector. By focusing on the secure use of AI, ITL aims to bolster trust in digital solutions and promote the safe integration of emerging technologies in business operations.
ITL and CyberHub Estonia members Cybernetica, SK ID Solutions, OIXIO, Lean Digital, and CybExer Technologies contributed to this year’s campaign.
