Estonian CyberTech Cluster Training Highlights the Real Cyber Risks for Industry Leaders

April 25, 2025

On April 22, the Estonian CyberTech Cluster held a practical cybersecurity training session for decision-makers from industries.

The session aimed to raise awareness of the growing complexity of cyber threats targeting these industries.

The training was led by a group of top experts:

  • Aleksandr Miina (Lean Digital) emphasized the business impact of cyberattacks and underlined that cybersecurity is a management issue—not just an IT one.
  • Mihkel Kukk (KPMG Baltics) shared strategic perspectives and reminded participants that relying on external service providers requires strong oversight.
  • Kristjan Aljas (Telia) focused on user and device-level security, stressing practical steps companies and individuals can take to reduce risks.
  • Markus Ilmar Münzer (RiskSight) highlighted the importance of regular backups and software updates, giving insight into the potential damage caused by neglecting these areas, as well as tips on what to do if an attack has alreday happened.

More than 30 executives and senior managers participated in the session, leaving with clear, actionable advice to improve their organization’s cybersecurity maturity. While awareness of cyber issues is increasing in Estonia, the training made it clear that there’s still a significant gap in hands-on expertise. The key message: mitigating cyber risks starts with well-defined processes and simple, measurable actions.
