Estonia’s Friends International Meeting 2021

Estonia's Friends International Meeting was called to life in 2010 to thank and recognize business, political and cultural figures whose actions and advice have helped Estonia to become a truly European country with a dynamic economy and thriving culture. The 9th Estonia’s Friends International Meeting (EFIM) took place on July 8th-9th 2021 in Tallinn.

The patrons of the EFIM 2021 are former president of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves and tech entrepreneurs Ott Kaukver and Sten Tamkivi. The meeting started with the visit to the e-Estonia Briefing Center and followed by business seminar „Shaping the IT stories of tomorrow“ by Estonian Investment Agency (Enterprise Estonia) and Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITL). Presentations were given by Kadri Tuisk, Founder & CEO of Clanbeat, Ain Aaviksoo, Chief Medical Officer at Guardtime, Taavi Tamkivi, CEO & Founder of Salv, Üllar Jaaksoo, Founder & CEO of Greenenergy Data Centers.

The second day started with traditional Digital Society Symposium: Quo vadis, Estonia? Moderated by Sten Tamkivi, entrepreneur and investor. Virtual welcome speech by President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid and greetings by Takuya Hirai, Minister of Digital Transformation of Japan. A discussion panel with Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Markus Villig, Ott Kaukver, CTO of Checkout.com, Mari Joller, CEO & founder of Snackable AI, and the audience was moderated by Sten Tamkivi. The guests lunch was hosted by Kaja Kallas, Prime Minister of Estonia. The gathering of Estonian friends ended with concert “Great Summer Gatherings. Friends” and dinner hosted by the Estonian Ministry of Culture at Arvo Pärt Centre.
