ITL Joins Cybersecurity Collaboration project CHESS

ITL joins the Cyber-security Excellence Hub in Estonia and South Moravia (CHESS) project to enhance cybersecurity collaboration in Estonia and Czech Republic. This is a strategic partnership that aims to bolster cross-border collaboration in cybersecurity research and innovation between Estonia and the South Moravia region of the Czech Republic.
CHESS, an EU-funded initiative, focuses on developing a joint cybersecurity research and innovation strategy, addressing six key challenge areas:
- Internet of Secure Things
- Secure Certification
- Verification of Trustworthy Software
- Security Preservation in Blockchain
- Post-Quantum Cryptography
- Human-Centric Aspects of Cybersecurity
As an associated member, ITL will play a pivotal role in disseminating information to a broader audience, aiming to increase the research and innovation capabilities of Estonian companies and encourage their active participation in collaborative cybersecurity endeavors.
Doris Põld, CEO of ITL, emphasized the significance of this collaboration: “Joining the CHESS project aligns perfectly with ITL’s mission to advance Estonia’s digital landscape. By facilitating information sharing and showcasing collaborative opportunities, we aim to empower Estonian companies to engage more deeply in cybersecurity research and innovation.”
Václav Matyáš, CHESS Project Lead from Masaryk University, welcomed ITL’s involvement: “The inclusion of ITL as an associated member enriches the CHESS consortium by narrowing the gap between research institutions and the private sector. Their expertise and network will be invaluable in promoting cybersecurity excellence across both regions.”
Estonia and South Moravia are teaming up to support the EU’s safe transition to a digital society. Estonia is among the most advanced digital societies globally, with an outstanding e-government infrastructure. South Moravia is a major Czech ICT powerhouse in industry and education, with a strong focus on cybersecurity. The EU-funded CHESS project will create a Cyber-security Excellence Hub aiming to develop a joint cross-border cybersecurity research and innovation strategy and running pilots to support the identification of strengths and gaps, focusing on six challenge areas.
