August 15, 2024

The Minister of Justice and Digital Liisa-Ly Pakosta met with the members of the ITL board today.

The minister introduced the changed areas of responsibility and division of labor in the ministries and the challenges of the near future.

It was jointly discussed how to contribute to the development of the digital country in cooperation between the private and public sectors, to achieve savings in the country through digitization and avoiding duplication. The CEO of ITL, Doris Põld, said that as a union, the importance of the post of IT vice-chancellor was emphasized in ensuring the digital development of the country’s systemic and administrative areas. “We pointed out the importance of private and public sector cooperation as one of the key factors to ensure efficiency and also to bring more added value back into the economy. Topics in the field of communication were also discussed, such as the current regulatory fee, as well as the need for cooperation across ministries in infrastructure topics. The common theme was also pan-European cooperation and how Estonia should be an advocate for digital issues.”

At the meeting, further cooperation formats were agreed, how to regularly involve the private sector in the issues of digital development of the state and also in the field of justice, and how to jointly maintain the reputation of Estonia’s e-state as the first in the world.

ITL board hopes that this very business-like and constructive meeting is just the beginning of long-term cooperation and meaningful involvement of the private sector.
