National Workshop to Drive Digital Agenda in Cairo

ITL represenatatives are in Egypt Cairo to organize a national workshop on digital transformation.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) of Egypt is organizing the National Workshop on Digital Transformation on November 15-16, in collaboration with the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITL), in the presence of the Ambassador of Estonia to Egypt Ingrid Amer.

The Workshop aims to explore the key to successful e-governance, digital solutions for a better business climate, green transition, and sustainable development. The national efforts to build a digital society in light of the Digital Egypt vision will also be presented during the event.

The Workshop is held within the framework of the outcomes of the UfM Conference on Digital Transformation and Digital Skills for the Future, held in September 2019 in Tallinn, Estonia. The discussions and presentations made during the Conference yielded a set of key messages and recommendations, one of which was the need to enhance the exchange of good practices at bilateral and regional levels in the digital economy and digital transformation and support member states to catch up with front-runners such as Estonia.

Day one features several sessions discussing e-governance and the first steps towards an information society, an introduction to digital transformation in Egypt, successes and challenges of digital transformation, the impact of digital transformation on the digital economy, building digital skills in society to support the digital economy and digital transformation; legislation, strategies, and innovation ecosystem governance. The day concludes with a networking and matchmaking session between Egyptian and Estonian SMEs that provide digital solutions for the public sector.

Sessions on day two will address public services transformation, the safest and most attractive business environment, the role of digital solutions in empowering green transition and sustainability, digital identity, digital signature and data interoperability.

The Workshop is joined by more than 60 experts, officials from MCIT, digital transformation advisors, members of the Estonian Embassy in Cairo, representatives of UfM, Digital Nation, GIZ, the private sector, civil society organizations in Egypt, and academics.
