The first meeting of the ITL Women’s Leaders Club was held

December 6, 2023

The first meeting of the ITL Women's Leaders Club was held on 5th of December 2023.

Did you know that in OECD countries, twice as many boys as girls hope to become engineers, scientists or architects, and only 0.5% of 15-year-old girls become ICT specialists, compared to 5% of boys of the same age?

ITL was inspired by the Women in Tech initiative and for the first time convened the ITL Women Leaders Club, which offers women leaders among ITL members a common information space and an opportunity to empower women in the Estonian ICT sector.

At the first meeting at Põhjala factory, guest speaker Liina Kanter spoke about the digital gender gap and its root causes, also an open discussion was held under the leadership of ITL board member Tuuli Pärenson on the format, goals and possible activities of the ITL Women’s Managers Club to increase the proportion of women in the IT sector.

In order to continue to be a strong advocate and nurturer of the sector, we at ITL want to promote greater gender equality in the labor market, boost economic growth and build a more inclusive digital world through the women among our own members.

The meeting was organized within the framework of the WinITS and INFIMO projects, the implementation of which is supported by the European Union through the European Innovation Council and the SMEs Executive Agency.

We will keep you updated on how the club is doing.
